Job Summary
Medical Surgical Nurse (MS) for a healthcare facility located in the facilitys service area. This position involves providing specialized nursing care to adult patients on the medical-surgical floor, focusing on patients with complex needs such as tracheostomies, total laryngectomies, and post-operative monitoring. The role requires adaptability to float within the scope of practice and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Job Details

  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS; Education: RN license; Location: Within the designated service area; Experience: 1+ year with Level I/Teaching Facility experience, or 2 years required;
  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week;
  • Clinical Responsibilities include drains, monitoring flaps post-op, tracheostomy/total laryngectomy care, tube feeding, phlebotomy, IV access, Central Line Management, and telemetry monitoring;
  • Clinical skills required: Accessing/Managing Ports, Blood Product Administration, Central line blood draw, Feeding tube care and management, Heparin, Insulin, Isolation Precautions/PPE, IV insulin protocols, Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Oral suctioning, Oxygen administration, PCA, Peripheral Line Care/Management, Peripheral nerve block catheters, Phlebotomy, PICC line management, Starting and maintaining IVs, Surgical drains, Telemetry, Tracheostomy care/management, Use of Rapid Response/Code teams, Wound Care/Wound Vac;
  • Additional responsibilities: Manage patients with Cuffed/Cuffless Tracheostomies, Total Laryngectomies, Carotid Blow Out Precautions, and Free Flap Patients;
  • The provider will float within scope to meet facility needs;
  • Clearance for compliance, licensure, and modules is required prior to start;
