About the Role

The Company is seeking a Deputy General Counsel to join its dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will be the second in command in the legal department, with a key role in providing strategic leadership and helping to shape the legal function as the company expands. This is a hands-on position that requires a versatile attorney with a strong background in various legal disciplines, capable of problem-solving and working closely with non-legal partners. The Deputy General Counsel will be responsible for a range of legal matters, including but not limited to, advising on legal issues related to the company's operations and growth. Applicants for the Deputy General Counsel position at the company should have a JD and be a member of a state bar or the District of Columbia bar, with at least 8 years of experience in government, big law, or a combination of both. Experience in advising venture-backed companies is essential, and a practical, solution-oriented approach to legal practice is a must. The role also requires the ability to translate legal concepts for non-legal audiences and a willingness to obtain a Top Secret clearance. The ideal candidate will have a desire to contribute to the company's mission and may have additional experience in venture financing deals, M&A, and in-house startup experience. Team sports experience is also a plus, reflecting the company's value of a fast, hands-on, and team-oriented culture.
